Caroline Ward, a recognized authority in the field of library services to youth, has been the Coordinator of Youth Services at the Ferguson Library in Stamford Connecticut for the past 17 years. She expanded the library’s early childhood offerings to include “Babytime” and introduced an award winning national early literacy program “Every Child Ready to Read.” She is proud of her work with the pre-school community in Stamford; as a member of the School Readiness Council she has been able to offer pre-school educators literacy training and to engage parents and children in regular “Play and Learn” nights. She is active in the American Library Association (ALA), chairing the 1990 John Newbery Committee, and in 1999-2000 serving as President of the Association for Library Services to Children (ALSC), a Division of ALA. In 2005 she received the Grolier Award from ALA for Outstanding Service to Youth, and in 2007 the ALSC Distinguished Service Award.
