Claudia Connor has been the President & CEO of the International Institute of Connecticut, Inc. (IICONN) since April 2015. Claudia has over twenty-five years of program management, advocacy, and legal and strategic leadership experience in the non-profit sector in the United States, Africa and Southeast Asia. Claudia came to IICONN from Save the Children where she developed strategic partnerships with US-based private foundations. Prior to Save the Children, Claudia held senior positions at the International Rescue Committee (IRC) including Senior Technical Advisor in the Governance & Rights Unit, Regional Director in the US Programs department, and Director of National Programs.
Prior to joining the IRC, Claudia worked as a consultant in Africa and Southeast Asia. As a consultant, she worked with UNICEF Myanmar on issues of child trafficking and child soldiers, and with the International Labor Organization’s International Program on the Elimination of Child Labor in Thailand. She worked as a consultant with the Malawi Centre for Advice, Research and Education on Rights, Population Services International, UNDP, The Carter Center and Save the Children in Mozambique on issues including women’s rights, juvenile justice and the impact of HIV/AIDS.
Before moving overseas in 1998, Claudia was a senior trial attorney with the Criminal Defense Division of the Legal Aid Society in New York. She has her JD from Brooklyn Law School and a B.A. in History from University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill. Claudia lives in Norwalk, CT with her husband and their three boys.
